Handling Negative Feedback as a Creator

Negative feedback happens. Use it well.

Initial Response

Don't react defensively. "Thank you for sharing. I'll look into this." Buy time. Stay professional.

Assess

  • Is it valid? Act on it.
  • Is it abuse? Ignore or block.
  • Is it misunderstanding? Clarify.

Public vs Private

Address publicly if others will see. Keep detail private (DM, email). Don't air drama.

Improvement

Valid feedback = product improvement. Update. Fix. Thank them. "Based on your feedback, we've updated X."

Boundaries

You don't have to please everyone. Some criticism isn't worth engaging.
